Week Ahead Conditions Forecast & Weekend Wrap Up

Anyone else get sunburned? No? Just me? Cool cool.

Weekend Wrap Up

I am trying to keep the front page relatively brief, but want to share details of trail reports too. You can always submit anonymously and don’t have to agree to share your specific report. Here are the reports from the weekend:

  • 3/12/21 Almost 100% dry, except for two small creek crossings in Evans Canyon (which are there for a big part of the year anyways). Dry, hard pack conditions on lower trails including the following: Evans Canyon, short section of Miners, Upper Evans, Poedunk, Fisticuffs, Keystone Canyon, UNR DH, and Snake. I didn't venture to the upper trails because they appear to still have snow, but with this sun, wind, and warming temps, I'd bet it melts out fast up there as well. -Courtney H.

  • 3/12/21 Upper Evans over to Total Recall. The dirt on Total Recall is better than I’ve ever seen it. Only went slightly up past the Halo cutoff on TR but my ride was dry all the way. Zero mud. -Vic D.

Week Ahead Conditions Forecast

You’d think after living in northern Nevada for so many years, I might be used to these spring forecasts, but it always makes me feel like that Dead or Alive song “You Spin Me Round(Like a Record)”. Snow flurries, wind, thunder, and barely breaking above freezing today (Monday). Right round to sunshine and, as the kids these days say it, ‘preemy’ conditions Tuesday and Wednesday. And then, like a record, right round to more gusty spring showers Thursday afternoon.

Looking at the projected precipitation amounts and accompanying winds , I’d venture to guess that the trails will be largely unaffected within a few hours of sunrise on Tuesday morning. Too bad the Tuesday Night Ride Group has decided to postpone their season opener. Though I’m sure that won’t stop plenty of y’all from taking advantage of the extra hour of light in the evening.

Keep the trail reports coming and I’ll see y’all on the next ride around!
