Weekend Outlook 9/23-9/26, 2021

Forest Closures:

While much of the forest closures are expired, south and west shores of Tahoe remain under closure due to continued fire activity as well as burn scar remediation. Closure orders and detailed maps available here, and here.

Weekend Events:

Here are the events that are on the radar for this weekend:

Thursday, September 23:

  • 5:45pm

    • Silver State Striders are running the Steamboat Ditch Trail from the Manzanita Drive crossing. Roughly 8 miles total out and back.

  • Saturday, September 25:

    • 8:00am:

      • Silver State Striders will be running the Tahoe Rim Trail from Tahoe Meadows to Tunnel Creek and back. An out and back route with your choice of distance up to 17 miles.

  • Sunday, September 26:

    • 8:00am:

      • Muscle Powered Carson city will be road riding from Fremont Elementary School.

Trail Outlook

This weekend is the best of shoulder season. Cool nights, warm days, and only a hint of evening breezes. I won’t hold you up by writing a long piece here. Go get it while it’s good.
