Weekday Trail Outlook and Upcoming Events 1/24-1/30, 2022

Calm With Chances of Snow Drifts

  • Expect this week to be nearly identical to last weather wise. That means the trails will continue to improve. Word from the outlying areas is that Clear Creek in Carson has a few clear miles out and back, Hidden Valley and Wedekind Regional Parks are both dry, and the western foothills (i.e. Auburn) are prime conditions at the moment. While we can continue to see improvement on our own mountain here, those big snow drifts hanging out in the shade are likely to continue to rain on our parade for a while yet. To paraphrase a comment made in the Northern Nevada Off Road Recovery groups this weekend, Peavine is giving us bone dry roads with 8 foot drifts all in the same hundred yards over and over. That being said, if you like the West end of Halo or all of Rancho San Rafael, you have a LOT of options now open on the hill.
