Trail Outlook
Snow, wind, and sun. Generally wet trail conditions. Temperatures are expected to rise pretty quickly into more spring like conditions so we should see much of the most recent dusting burn right back off by the end of Thursday. Afternoon winds are expected Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. And Sunday midday on is expecting rain and snow again. So Friday and Saturday are the most likely window for some clear trails. Most likely this will be at Hidden Valley Regional Park, North Valleys Regional Park, Wedekind Regional Park, and Centennial Park down in Carson City. Sierra Vista Park’s gravel path will probably be open, but the single track as well as the nearby connector trail are likely to hold some lingering mud. City facing trails along the Keystone and Kings Row trailhead area may open up for some out and back as well as loops in Rancho San Rafael.
Local Trail Closure: King’s Canyon loop and waterfall trail are closed for the immediate future due to a recent rock fall. Check out the monster boulder and debris field on Carson City Parks and Open Space’s Facebook page here. This is a good reminder that this historically snowy and wet winter has reshaped a LOT of trails. As we start getting out and about, keep your head up and speed down on trails you haven’t been on this spring.
