Local Bike Industry Job Opening
The Reno Bike Project is looking to hire a bike riding instructor. The position will be working primarily with youth learners and requires being comfortable riding on roads with traffic. This is a great organization to work for on a mission to build a better bike community in the Truckee Meadows. Thursday, February 23:

Silver State Striders will be running 7 - 10 ish miles of hills starting and ending at Eclipse Running (Moana & Lakeside). Headlamps, traction devices, and reflective clothing are a must. Biggest Little Trail Stewards are having their monthly meeting at Mi Casa Too on West 4th Street. This is open to all and is a great way to get involved behind the scenes in grassroots local trail building. See you there!

Trail Outlook
Snow. Lots of snow. Across the entire Truckee Meadows. Sunday is supposed to be clear, but other than that, all trails are expected to be covered in snow.
If you’re a mountain biker, now is an excellent time to beat the rush for spring bike maintenance at our local bike shops. Come March and April, wait times for annual fork and shock service can be as far out as May. Get your gear in for that tune up now so that you have a nice refreshed setup come prime spring conditions.
There are plenty of groomed trails around Tahoe Meadows and Chickadee Ridge. If you head up to use the groomed trails on foot, fatbike, or snowshoe, please stay right on the trails so that cross country skiers can enjoy the routes they have fundraised and volunteered to have up there. There is also enough snow that snowshoeing and fatbike riding in the Galena trail network is epic right now. This new round of snow may require packing down for fatbikes, but overall the snow riding and running conditions in the Truckee Meadows are at a historic high. Enjoy the winter wonderland and if you hit the resorts on Saturday, pack tire chains, snacks and patience.
If you are swapping the running and riding for a little back country sliding, check out the latest avalanche conditions over at Sierra Avalanche Center. The snowpack has had a lot of dynamic conditions this week creating new hazards where there were none before. Knowing where to look can make the difference of coming home.
