  • Saturday & Sunday, July 23, Multiple Times:

    • City of Reno Adaptive Sports program is seeking volunteer experienced mountain bike riders and coaches to work with adaptive mountain bike riders during their adaptive mountain bike camp held at Sky Tavern. Trail Outlook: Decreasing Thunderstorms

  • The Sunday night downpour was a real soaker and cool, cloudy, and intermittent showers really slowed the drying process across the mountain. Tuesday is currently showing a lighter version of the same clouds and daytime showers with improving warmth and sunshine later in the week. Tuesday morning or Wednesday and beyond should be excellent conditions with a decreasing chance of isolated mud as we get toward the weekend. I’ll keep the front page updated as conditions change. Loamier and sandier soils of the Whites, Thomas, and Callahan trails, as well as the trails in Truckee have held up better during these storms. The bike parks in Incline and Truckee closed some or all when the downpours have been particularly nasty this past week. If you head those directions, check their specific social media to make sure you get to have fun.

This Week’s Events:

  • Tuesday, June 13:

    • 5:30 pm

      • Tuesday Night Ride Group is riding Ballardini Ranch trails from the Ballardini Ranch trailhead on Lone Tree Lane. This is a choose your own distance ride so do as many laps as you like. TNRG is a casual mountain bike ride group for all skill levels. They don’t wait for a mass start, so when you arrive, introduce yourself or just start riding as you like. More details can be found at their Facebook Group Page linked here.

    • 5:45 pm

  • Wednesday, June 14:

    • 8:30 am

      • Biggest Little Trail Stewards are doing trail maintenance on the Rancho Connector trail from East Keystone Canyon to Rancho San Rafael and looking for volunteers. Trail maintenance is one of the best ways to keep our local dirt awesome and meet some like minded cool people. For more information and to RSVP, check out their Facebook Event Page Linked here.

    • 7:45 pm

      • Bike Night Reno will be rolling out a group of riders of all kinds from the Space Whale in Downtown. As their name suggests, this is a night ride so lights are required. Whether it’s a simple headlamp and taillight or full on burner bike light-splosion is entirely up to you. This is a mostly flat road ride friendly to all wheeled contraptions at an extremely social pace. For more information, follow @bikenightreno on instagram.

  • Thursday, June 15:

    • 4:00 pm

      • Tri-Lab is back! And it’s a good day to tri hard! (yes I stole that joke from Craft Wine and Beer’s newsletter). In case you haven’t heard of Tri-Lab, it is a three organization team up (collab but with three (tri)) between Reno Bike Project, Holland Project, and Craft Wine and Beer to raise a glass and funds to two amazing community organizations. I’ll let Ty, over at Craft, tell you more about the block party that this is with his newsletter linked here. Sufficed to say, it’s a good time. There is always a limited edition beer. And it’s an easy and fun way to support some absolutely stand up Reno community institutions. See you there!

    • 5:45 pm

  • Saturday, June 17:

    • 8:00 am

    • 9:45 am

      • Radical Adventure Riders (RAR) Reno are leading a beginner friendly gravel ride from the Hobart Mills parking area at Hobart Mills Road and Hwy 89 North of Truckee. This ride is for FTWN-B riders and the route is excellent for getting a taste of what gravel riding is all about. For more details, follow @rar.reno on Instagram.

That’s what’s on my radar at the moment. If you know of something I missed or is coming soon, send me an email  and it might get listed. See you outside!

June 12, 2023 Conditions. Drying trails across the mountain. Daily thunderstorms can rapidly change that to peanut butter mud.
