Weekday Trail Outlook and Upcoming Events 10/03-10/09, 2022

Trail Outlook: Local’s Summer

  • I saw this term “Local’s Summer” the other day in a conversation about Tahoe conditions and thought it was so appropriate for the Truckee Meadows as well. Temps are moderate, winds are calm, trail conditions are absolutely perfect, and we have finished with most of the major festivals and other tourist attractions until the snow flies. Maybe that’s why so many of you are organizing outdoor events right now. Regardless, get it while it’s good and have a great week!

  • Trail Damage Warning: Whites Creek had some serious flooding in the early August round of downpours. Major trail damage along much of the lower section of trail as well as some of the upper section. The local trail managers are all aware of the damage and would appreciate users seeking alternate routes until they are able to get repairs done. Due to the extensive nature of the current damage, that may not be this year. If you are planning on doing the Dry Pond loop, be careful or consider an out and back on the Thomas Creek side.
