Weekday Trail Outlook and Upcoming Events 8/15-8/21, 2022

Trail Outlook: Moderate Heat, Moderate Lightning Round 3

  • Every weekday evening is expected to see some form of thunderstorms. The word is we could see monsoonal downpours much like two weeks ago. High temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90s so this is a good week to get outside in the morning or be prepared to get wet.

  • Trail Damage Warning: Whites Creek had some serious flooding int he last round of downpours that has destroyed much of the lower section of trail as well as some of the upper section. The local trail managers are all aware of the damage and would appreciate users seeking alternate routes until they are able to get repairs done. Due to the extensive nature of the current damage, that may not be this year. If you are planning on doing the Dry Pond loop, be careful or consider an out and back on the Thomas Creek side.

Trail Karma Opportunity:

  • Reno Bike Project is looking for volunteers to help staff their Burning Man Bike shop every day between this Thursday (August 18) and Monday the 29th. This is a relatively easy volunteer opportunity helping get burners on bikes and out the door. For more information and to sign up, check out their webpage linked here.
