This Week’s Events

  • Tuesday, May 17:

  • 5:00 pm

    • (Off Week: Next Race 5/24) Reno Wheelmen are hosting their Twilight Road Series Bike Race at Aircenter Drive this week. This is a criterium requiring riders to compete wheel to wheel on a paved circuit course. Come on out to the start/finish line to cheer riders on or race. Races are run in the order Beginner (Category C), Intermediate (Category B), and then Advanced (Category A) with checkin beginning at 5pm. There is no onsite registration. More details and registration link can be found on their event website here.

  • 5:30 pm

    • Tuesday Night Ride Group (TNRG) is riding from the Callahan Ranch trailhead in Galena. If you are new to TNRG rides, there is no mass start so bring a friend or introduce yourself to who ever is around when you set off. Ride as long as you like. Most TNRG rides will have an after ride social at the start point so if you want to join in, pay attention to the flow of riders heading back. Check their Facebook Group Page for the most current updates.

  • 5:45 pm

    • Silver State Striders are running trails out of the Thomas Creek Horse Trailer parking lot with options of ~6 or ~9 miles. Meeting at the North end of Timberline road where the bathrooms and large gravel parking is. More details on their website.

      • Start Location Change Due to Construction Reno Wheelmen’s weekly Verdi road ride. Start and end at the CVS parking lot on California Avenue Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation building (50 Cowan Drive, 89509) in Idlewild Park between the train ride and the softball fields. There is a one time waiver to be signed so give yourself enough time before the 5pm roll out to set up and sign in. This is an out and back with social pace on the out and choose your own adventure pace on the way back. Lights, including rear red, and reflective attire suggested as well as be prepared to service your own flats should that happen.

      • Reno Tahoe Junior Cycle/ Reno Devo is holding their next Wednesday Night Worlds Short Track Cross Country mountain bike races at Sky Tavern Hidden Valley (Changed venue due to snow). These races happen every other week through July and funds raised go toward local youth athletes training and racing. Registration closes Monday nights on the event website here. Even if you don’t race, come out and cheer on the racers and enjoy the local enthusiasm. Novice heats start at 5pm, Open rolls at 6:10pm. Race organizers tell me that the course this week is ‘minimally technical for our pavement loving friends.’

More information and cookie baker coordinator contact information on their newsletter linked here.

That’s what’s on my radar at the moment. If you know of something I missed or is coming soon, send me an email  and it might get listed. See you outside!
