  • May 7, 2022

    • Carson City Muscle Powered Gear Swap. The second annual Gear Swap presented by Muscle Powered. Buy and sell bikes, bike parts, hiking or backpacking gear, paddling stuff, snowshoes or ski gear, or pretty much any other gear for muscle-powered adventures (no hunting or used safety equipment please). Additional details and to registration to sell your stuff are available at their event website here.

  • May 14, 2022

    • Reno Kiwanis Biggest Little Bike Swap and Sale. This is a consignment sale so you bring your gear to be sold first thing in the morning, the sale runs all day, and you pickup what hasn’t sold at the end of the day. Kiwanis is charging 20% of sales as a fundraiser for their continued support of bike education and rehabilitation efforts. More details at their Facebook Events Page.

Trail Outlook: Dry trails, Unsettled Weather, Round 2

  • I’m trialling a new map of conditions. Instead of writing pages of words on specific trail conditions, I’ve created a general map outlining where the rough boundaries are for either limited poor conditions or extensive poor conditions. See the image at the bottom of the post. If you like either the map or the long posts, please give me feedback so the site can be most useful for you.

  • In general, the most recent week of precipitation may have actually taken the upper mountain snow with it. The snow above the trail on Mahogany Forest was growing thin before the last weather and the high rain/snow line for the majority of the precipitation means it likely took a big melt. I’m confident that the trail surface up there is still saturated so expect weak and muddy if you venture above the Mahogany bench. The weather this week features a lot of unsettled rain and snow mix with plenty of wind so expect wind and watch the front page for current trail conditions. The trail surfaces are largely dry, but the forecast amount of water in this storm system could change that quickly.

Most TNRG rides will have an after ride social at the start point so if you want to join in, pay attention to the flow of riders heading back.
