Weekend Outlook 3/26-3/28, 2021

For all the tubeless mountain bikers reading this… take a moment and go refresh your sealant. Don’t ask why this is suddenly coming up.

Keeping it short today. Wide open weekend ahead. Sunshine and improving forecast with drying trails. Above first bench is still fragile. That means that Upper Total Recall, Lingle’s, Colpo, Scrub Brush, and Bob Sled are still on the avoid list. Same goes for Mahogany Forest. I haven’t had any reports about Three Trees and Poeville road so if you have recent insight, send it over. Similarly, if anyone rides Halo between the Bacons and Total Recall, send me an update on the wet spots.

Further west, Hobo is now entirely clear. Hikers and runners, this is your most direct route up to the peak but still expect snow/mud at about 7000’ and ice up higher.

Speaking of further west… there is more off street parking only a few hundred feet down the road from the popular (East) Keystone Canyon lot. Middle Keystone(Scratch middle Keystone. It just got mostly fenced off by the construction workers to store equipment -PS 3/26) and West Keystone each tend to have open spots even when the East lot is overflowing into the street. Relatedly, Tanamera just started construction on the Overlook project at the end of Leadership and they are working on Saturdays. Expect more heavy equipment traffic and parking congestion on Leadership.

UPDATE: A trail repair day has been scheduled for this saturday morning at Sierra Vista Bike Park. The official event listing is on the Biggest Little Trail Stewards Facebook Page here. Starts at 9am. Details taken from the event: “Wear Long sleeve and long pants, bike helmet, gloves, bring sunscreen, a snack and water. We'll be following Covid social distancing and mask use.”

As always, if you get out on the mountain, submit a trail report and let us know how it is. I’ll update the front page as reports come in.
