Weekend Outlook 10/13-10/16, 2022

Trail Karma Opportunity:

  • Northern Nevada Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) is running their annual fundraiser giveaway. Top prizes include a full suspension mountain bike and some very nice gear. Entries are being sold online through October 28. Funds raised from this will support more kids in middle and high school in the region being able to experience bike riding and racing as part of their scholastic program. To make a donation for entry into the giveaway and for more information, check out the giveaway page linked here.

Temporary Trail Closure:

  • Tahoe Pyramid Trail between Floriston and Hirschdale will be closed to all traffic from Wednesday October 12 for at least two weeks for repair work. There are no alternate routes other than driving the highway so plan for out and back trips if you want to use the adjacent portions of the trail. For more details and current trail warnings, check the official Tahoe Pyramid trail website linked here.

Trail Damage Warning:

  • Whites Creek had some serious flooding in the early August round of downpours. Major trail damage along much of the lower section of trail as well as some of the upper section. The local trail managers are all aware of the damage and would appreciate users seeking alternate routes until they are able to get repairs done. Due to the extensive nature of the current damage, that may not be this year. If you are planning on doing the Dry Pond loop, be careful or consider an out and back on the Thomas Creek side.

Be kind, be safe, and enjoy.
