Weekend Wrap Up

I am trying to keep the front page relatively brief, but want to share details of trail reports too. You can always submit anonymously and don’t have to agree to share your specific report. Here are the reports from the weekend:

  • 3/4/21 Snow/ice two miles up Hobo Trail right fork. Left fork is clear but extremely steep, advise foot traffic only. On top, it's easy to avoid the puddles but getting to the summit is icy. Snow level is at about 7000'. I walked across a couple small snow fields that held my weight. Damage to trails is minimal. We ran into slush and mud at intersection of Bacon Strip and Mahogany Forest but all was dry below, wrapping around the south side to Peavine Hills Rd.Total recall to halo was dry. -Nikki R.

  • 3/5/21 Halo to Crispy bacon I hit a few muddy spots one was unrideable had to walk around. Crispy bacon to B lite and Las Brisas were dry -Cody W.

  • 3/7/21 B lite dry, Las Brisas dry, Both bacons (strip and crispy) dry, Over easy dry, Total recall dry to first bench with wet patches. Very muddy past first bench had to turn back. -Pj E.

Week Ahead Conditions Forecast

This coming week’s weather is unsettled with variable amounts of rain and snow expected as early as monday evening through thursday morning. The wind will kick things off monday morning and only pickup as the day goes on. If you absolutely have to get a ride in, monday is your best chance of catching the dry trail conditions. Days above freezing and nights below mean the midweek trail conditions will likely mirror this past saturday morning. Melting in the sun, mixed wet and frozen in the shade. A good time to do some spring maintenance.

Now that Reno’s first false spring is over, hunker down for winter round 3.
