RTC’s new FlexRide route runs between Galena and Incline Village/Sand Harbor. $5 one-way for all drops except Sand Harbor (+$2 to cover park entry). Multiple drop-off/pickup locations up on the mountain. And the vans have bike racks. ;) More details at the link. You have to call RTC to book this ride and if you want to take your bikes, book early. There are six seats on the bus but only 2 bike racks.

Here are the events that are on the radar for the last weekend of July:

• Thursday, August 12, 6pm:

  • Silver State Striders run has been canceled due to smoke.

• Thursday, August 12, 6pm:

  • Reno Running Company and Gear Hut are back at Ballardini Ranch Trail for their summer trail series. Details on their facebook events page.

• Saturday, August 14:

  • Silver State Striders members are either running or volunteering at the Castle Peak 100K race this weekend. Join the conversation there for more details.

Trail Outlook

With expected breezes this weekend coming directly out of the west, we might just get a reprieve from the smoke this weekend. Yay! But august has only just begun so hot hot hot. No major weather events expected, not even the evening bluster so just mind the temps and enjoy the trails.
